Staff Accountant

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant with experience in cash receipts and revenue for their busy office.   The company provides an excellent work environment and is passionate in its dedication to achievement. The candidate will be responsible for the following, but not limited to the following:
Cash Receipts:

  • Responsible for depositing & recording cash payments received from customers into the accounting system in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with outside offices to ensure cash receipts are deposited daily and properly recorded into the accounting system
  • Perform weekly bank reconciliations for check, financing, credit card, cash accounts
  • Review list of undeposited customer checks and follow up with relevant department
  • Digitize documents involved in order to cash process, storing them in a logical & consistent manner
  • Partner with departmental administrative staff to speed up the collection of cash receipts or investigate discrepancies as necessary

  • Accounts Receivable:
  • Assist collections manager to investigate historical discrepancies in recorded customer payments
  • Review the Accounts Receivable aging to ensure customer payments are appropriately applied
  • Identify & record correcting adjustments to the Accounts Receivable aging, as required
  • Develop & distribute bi-weekly A/R reporting package to service managers & senior management

Assist Revenue Accounting manager to perform a weekly review of sales & deferred Revenue
Provide excellent customer service to our internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in written communication
The duties of this position include interacting with the Company's Service Managers and their
Admins in 11 locations in the Mid-Atlantic States.
Special projects related to developing process standards & system migration

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. The position requires the ability to manage vast amounts of detailed information; accuracy is paramount.
  • Superior communication skills, with a particular ability to communicate financial information and concepts to non-finance colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently or with limited oversight, completing assignments by the designated deadlines
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with all levels within an organization
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including extensive experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's and conditional formulas. You don't have to be an expert, but you must be willing to dive in and learn.
