Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Shelter Advocate to support individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence in a residential shelter setting. This role focuses on providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and ongoing support to help survivors rebuild safe, independent lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional support
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and case management
- Connect clients to housing, healthcare, childcare, and community resources
- Facilitate support groups and daily programming
- Support parents and children with guidance, structure, and advocacy
- Maintain accurate documentation and client records
- Assist with daily shelter operations and ensure a safe, supportive environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in case management or working with survivors (highly preferred)
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and crisis response
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends, holidays as needed)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
