Our client has an immediate need for a Senior Linux Administrator in Bethesda, MD. The Administrator will have a full spectrum of system administration tasks for the Intramural technical environment which includes user and server support. They will provide hands on support assisting the Desktop Support team with addressing concerns, and work with the Security Engineer to manage security vulnerabilities. Manage existing Linux computer systems including patching, upgrading and problem solving. Install, troubleshoot and maintain petabyte scale file and block storage. Manage existing Panasas parallel high-performance storage system. Work with scientists and NIH CIT to optimize, secure and manage local network. Enhance and aid local computation, NIH cluster computation and cloud computation. Aid, advise and manage large scale cloud computation on Google Genomics and other cloud vendors as required. Take initial lead on surveys and advising on upgrade for secure operation of IT equipment and management practices. Collaborate with IT security for secure operation of the above equipment and operations. Use shell scripting and system programming skills to do above tasks. And provide documentation related to routine audits of system or related to requirements above.

Experience with Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Red Hat Linux/Oracle Linux, Active Directory, and various hardware platforms, including Oracle/Sun, Dell, Cisco and Client. Experience in configuring and managing storage solutions including virtualized server environment. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Associate certifications are desirable.
