Job Description
Our client in Mid-Cape Cod is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Advocate to help us in our mission to assist survivors of violence. The Shelter Advocate will provide direct service and support to survivors and their children living in our emergency shelter.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional support to residents of the emergency shelter.
· Facilitate daily activities and manage the daily operations of the shelter.
· Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment within the shelter.
· Advocate on behalf of survivors with other agencies as needed.
· Assist with intake and discharge processes for shelter residents.
· Document and maintain accurate records of all client interactions.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements Training will be provided to those in a transferable industry such as retail, waitstaff, healthcare, or other customer service client-facing roles.
· Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, education can be substituted with experience.
· Experience working in a residential setting preferred.
· Ability to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
· Sensitivity to the needs of survivors and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Updated CPR, and First Aid Certification required (Will train).
· HIV/AIDS certification required (Will train).
· Dependable transportation and valid MA Driver’s License
