Our healthcare products manufacturing client has a great opportunity for a Manager, Financial Accounting hybrid (2 days per week from the office, rest from home).
Job Summary:
The Manager, Financial Accounting will guide financial accounting related to month-end close, financial reporting, and the year-end audit. They are responsible for developing and implementing tools, processes, and systems to support the company’s accounting, financial reporting, and internal control environment. In addition to those responsibilities they will also help support purchase price accounting execution and integration of acquisitions. This accounting professional should bring a strong sense of urgency and collaboration to the role by assessing current capabilities (people, processes, technology) and developing go-forward strategies.
Position Description:
The Manager, Financial Accounting will report to the Corporate Controller on a day-to-day basis but will have direct interaction and engagement with the CFO. In addition, they must be able to communicate effectively with all of the functional organizations outside of accounting. and work collaboratively with other key members of the Finance and Administrative teams including planning & analysis, treasury, credit & collections, IT and HR, and to accomplish the objectives of the position. There are two direct reports to the Manager, Financial Accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Drive the monthly close process and ensure the accurate and timely accounting close of the general ledger for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP;
• Maintain, document and improve a robust business process to close the books with special emphasis on a structured, repeatable process with clear responsibilities (for example, closing calendar, closing checklist, detailed review of reconciliations, quarterly balance sheet and cash flows review meetings);
• Be hands-on with consolidations, currency exchange matters and detailed review of reconciliations;
• Work closely with the external auditors and serve as primary contact for all external audit matters;
• Work closely with the corporate controller to monitor and implement new accounting pronouncements – both US GAAP and IFRS;
• Work closely with the corporate controller to support accounting integration for new acquisitions;
• Prepare accounting memos supporting accounting positions for different transactions;
• Manage the accounting infrastructure within company’s ERP platforms across multiple entities (IFS and Profit 21) and partner with financial planning and analysis to maintain unified, consolidated reporting structure within Adaptive;
• Motivate and lead a high-performance team: attract, develop, and retain talent by providing coaching and mentorship to direct reports and optimize/maintain an accountability/results-driven culture with clear and concise reporting on successes and opportunities for improvement;
• Ensure the quality of the function’s deliverables is of the highest standard and instill a culture of “no surprises”;
• Support other enterprise-wide, cross functional projects as needed and take on other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA and public accounting experience is a plus;
• At least 5 years of related work experience, preferably 1 year leading people, including integration of acquisitions;
• Work process redesign/controls improvement experience;
• Good knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS is a plus;
• Experience in related manufacturing, dental, medical device or other similar life sciences industry organization of scale;
• Ability to lead people and get things done;
• Comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment
