Job Description

The Financial Analyst supports Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and has a crucial role in the development and preparation of reporting tools to support financial decision making. The role utilizes analysis and reports to provide insightful analysis, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. The Analyst collaborates closely with the FP&A team and department Directors to provide operational data and reporting to enable strategic planning, budgeting, scenario planning, and forecasting.

The Financial Analyst reports to the Senior Director, Finance (FP&A). This position is remote, with occasional travel to corporate office.

Responsibilities 

  • Gather, organize, and analyze financial and operational data from various sources; including from accounting, project management, and CRM software.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and financial models to support financial metric reporting.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement based on data analysis.
  • Communicate financial information to finance department, business unit leads and various stakeholders in clear, concise reports.
  • Deliver reporting and analysis in a timely manner and support close cycle.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, and prepare presentations and reports for senior management and the board.
  • Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess potential impacts on financial outcomes and identify potential risks and/or opportunities.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through regular audits and reconciliations by implementing best practices in data management and reporting.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop annual operating budgets, periodic forecasting, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor budget and forecast vs. actual performance and provide analysis to support decision-making related to strategic initiatives and program expansions.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights that drive organizational performance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline data collection, reporting, and analysis processes.
  • Educate and train staff on the use of data tools and resources to improve data literacy across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field, preferred
  • At least three (3+) years as a Data Analyst or similar role, preferably in a nonprofit or financial setting
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong aptitude for technology. Ability to develop technology-based solutions to streamline and improve processes
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning
  • Strong P&L knowledge, understanding of GAAP, proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards and practices
  • Self starter with the ability to create reports with and without direct oversite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
