Job Description

Overview:
An entrepreneurial and fast-paced manufacturing organization is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This role works closely with operations leadership and will focus on cost and inventory accounting, supporting the pricing process, and contributing to the planning and financial analysis of manufacturing operations. For a high-performing candidate, this position offers a pathway to grow into a Plant Controller role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of weekly and monthly cost analysis, providing actionable insights for management.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and areas for process improvement, training staff to enhance company performance.
  • Develop expertise with ERP and reporting systems, driving data quality and process efficiency.
  • Create and maintain standard reporting and analysis frameworks; provide ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost, overhead, and inventory planning.
  • Partner with operational leadership to analyze manufacturing variances, address issues, and deliver actionable insights.
  • Participate in month-end close processes, including cost accrual updates and variance analysis for production volumes, costs, and capital expenditures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Operations, HR, Procurement, and Logistics.
  • Support internal and external audits, including year-end inventory reviews.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a high-volume environment, preferably in cost accounting, financial analysis, or inventory accounting within a manufacturing setting.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to synthesize data into high-level overviews while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Visual, Synoptics, or DataRail.
  • Professional certifications such as CMA, CFA, or an MBA.
