Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the annual preparation of tax basis financial statements for domestic and international entity tax returns;
  • Serve as the key resource for understanding foreign currency revaluations and the impact to financial statements;
  • Be a resource to the tax department for information regarding audits of international entities;
  • Supervise the preparation of survey reporting;
  • Provide tax team with information related to VAT preparation and perform the balance sheet reconciliations for the tax returns on a monthly basis;
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by staff & senior accountants;
  • Review/organize the completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Assist in maintaining the monthly close schedule;
  • Assist in year-end activities including the interim and year end audit process and annual accrual
  • Responsible for various monthly and ad-hoc reporting;
  • Responsible for the analysis, management and implementation of financial initiatives, at the direction of management;
  • Responsible for assisting in supervision of staff with the accounting manager, including review of work, training and development:
  • Supervise the day to day activities of staff
  • Ensure workload is appropriately distributed
  • Review staff work to provide error free work to management
  • Conduct annual performance reviews
  • Ensure all deadlines are met
  • Train staff on systems, policies and procedures; provide clarity and context on purpose of work and department/firm objectives
  • Address issues, involving others appropriately or as needed, and provide regular and thorough feedback to staff
  • Provide regular feedback to manager on the progress and development of staff
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, provide information and recommendations to management and follow-through on solutions
  • Other duties, as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or Master's in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of capital asset recording and depreciation methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of foreign currency transactions and translations and exposure to IFRS.
  • In-depth knowledge of the reconciliation process and financial statement analysis.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel including performing financial and analytical computations.
