Accounting Manager
Job Description
Our client, a municipality in the Greater Boston area, is looking to hire an Accounting Manager to their accounting department that will oversee a team of 3 while interacting closely with the Town Accountant.
In this role, you will lead the accounting and finance function for the municipal group while reporting to the Director. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working with policy & procedure and optimizing the accounting operation.
The ideal candidate will have experience working at a municipality or a utilities company
Responsibilities
- Supervise the accounting and financial functions, including general ledger management, financial analysis, and prepping for year-end audits.
- Ensure that financial activities comply with both federal and state utility regulations
- Develop and implement financial reporting processes for leadership and relevant stakeholders, providing regular updates as needed.
- Prepare and reconcile financial records and reports, performing monthly cash and receivables reconciliation and analyzing budget performance.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of annual forecasts
- Oversee general ledger entries, revenue reporting, cost management, and financial statements, verifying monthly billing activity
