Position Overview:

A growing manufacturing company in Worcester is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting. This role is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for ensuring accurate financial management, maintaining internal controls, and driving process improvements across the organization.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting

  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting processes

  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure tax compliance

  • Evaluate current systems and procedures, and implement process improvements

  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management

  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar ERP)

  • Advanced Excel skills and analytical mindset

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
