A growing manufacturing company in Worcester is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting. This role is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for ensuring accurate financial management, maintaining internal controls, and driving process improvements across the organization.
Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
Oversee inventory and cost accounting processes
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure tax compliance
Evaluate current systems and procedures, and implement process improvements
Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management
Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar ERP)
Advanced Excel skills and analytical mindset
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
