Senior Building Systems Engineer / Commissioning Agent

Partnership Employment is seeking a strong Sr. Systems Engineer/Commissioning Agent with a background in the energy and engineering sector. This role will be supporting the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions commissioning.

The ideal candidate will be able to complete highly technical tasks with excel while also be approachable, personable and organized. This opportunity will be an important and integral part of the expansion of the commissioning team throughout the DC and NYC areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience working on commissioning projects for new construction and existing building retrofits
  • Comfortable reviewing construction documents and provide recommendations to improve constructability, IAQ, energy efficiency, and operations
  • Experience researching equipment and code requirements and reviewing submittals
  • Able to develop testing plans
  • Inspect installations of building equipment
  • Test HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and identify operational issues
  • Document review comments and inspection findings in issues logs
  • Provide written reports for program compliance and ownership review
  • Work together with building owners, developers, architects, engineers and contractors
  • Manage several projects at once ensuring the completion of all tasks on time and within budget
  • Assist in training junior staff on aforementioned functions
  • Write proposals, develop case studies and other sales, marketing and business development tasks
  • Energy Code/Green Code plan reviews and inspections
  • Aid in the design and oversight of energy efficiency retrofits

Required Technical Skills/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 4-8 years’ experience in a related field with a minimum of 2-4 years of direct building commissioning experience.
  • Strong understanding of building HVAC and Plumbing systems.
  • Familiarity with Energy Code and/or ASHRAE standards is a plus.
  • Familiarity with LEED Rated Systems and related Commissioning requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (in order of importance Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).


  • Willingness to travel to the NYC Office and to project sites throughout the northeast.
